Ether churns on doubled volume, sellers cap the 2250 shelf

Ether's last 12-hour candle closed almost flat around 2238, but turnover doubled versus the prior period — a lot of effort for no net progress. The final six hours ground up to tag 2250 before heavy sell flow knocked it back to 2240 in the last hour, with cumulative delta flipping firmly negative.

ETHUSDT Desk Read — effort without result

Angle this run: the churn. Last cycle read a straightforward failed push — a clean fade from 2242 to 2225 with sellers reasserting at the shelf. This window is different in texture. There was no clean rejection; there was *rotation*. The 12-hour candle opened at 2242.74, tagged a higher high at 2253.43, and closed at 2237.55 — a ~5-point net loss on roughly double the prior period's volume (7.21M vs 3.57M). That is the textbook signature of a market doing a lot of work and getting nowhere: supply is absorbing every uptick, not panic, just distribution.

The 6-hour strip tells the micro story the flat close hides. Price sagged to 2234 around 23:00, rebuilt steadily through the overnight, and printed a clean higher high at 2249.87 on the 02:00 bar — but that bar was also the session's volume spike (68.5K on a single 15m print). The follow-through never came. Within ninety minutes price was back at 2239, closing the window essentially unchanged.

Volume, delta and CVD — the tell

12h volume7.21M ETH (2.0× prior)
Delta, last hour−5,207 on the 03:30 bar alone
CVD (cumulative)−1,089 → −4,947 (−3,857 in ~60 min)
Final 15m delta−178 on thin 1.9K volume

The last hour is where the tape turns. The 03:30 bar printed −5,207 delta on 15.9K volume — the single most aggressive sell print of the window — and sliced price from 2245.86 to 2239.80 in fifteen minutes. Cumulative delta fell from −1,089 to −4,947 over the same stretch. That is not a grind; that is initiative selling finally showing its hand after hours of quiet absorption higher up.

Session tone

The read is bearish-leaning but not broken. The 2208–2212 zone is the line that has held twice now, and 2250–2253 is proving to be a hard cap. Between them the market is simply churning — absorbing buyers into a shelf that keeps getting sold. The doubled volume with a flat close is the key tell: if this were accumulation, price would be leaving, not sitting. Watch whether the 2208 low gets tested on the next down-leg; a break there opens the door to a fresh leg lower, while a reclaim of 2250 on *rising* delta would invalidate the distribution read.

Key levels: support 2208–2212 (twice-tested), resistance 2250–2253 (the shelf).
