Ether finally breaks 2,518 after a day of failed pushes
Ether spent most of the last twelve hours grinding sideways around 2,500 — a flat close at 2,505 with a lower low of 2,496 on heavier volume, the same rejected ceiling as before. Then the 15:00 hour changed the tape: a surge to 2,534 on roughly four times average hourly volume and positive delta, closing at 2,525. For the first time in days the 2,518 wall gave way rather than fading.

ETHUSDT Desk Read — the wall finally gives
Angle this run: the breakout that stuck. The last several frames told a single story: every push toward 2,518 was met with seller aggression and faded. This frame the twelve-hour candle looked like more of the same — a flat close at 2,505 on heavier volume, the classic churn signature. But the final hour flipped the script. The 15:00 bar ripped to 2,534 on 849k contracts (roughly four times the prior hourly average) and printed strongly positive delta. The ceiling that had rejected price for days was taken out on initiative buying, not a drift.
Twelve-hour candles (Binance, 720m)
| Window (UTC) | Open | High | Low | Close | Volume (ETH) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Oct 10 12:00 | 2,510.71 | 2,518.49 | 2,502.32 | 2,504.91 | 1,382,092 |
| Oct 11 00:00 | 2,504.90 | 2,512.00 | 2,496.12 | 2,505.09 | 1,934,934 |
The newer twelve-hour candle closed essentially unchanged (+0.18) but traded 40% more volume and printed a lower low (2,496 vs 2,502). On its own that reads as distribution — sellers absorbing the bid. The resolution came in the last hour of the window, not in the candle body itself.
Last six hours (Binance, 60m)
| Hour (UTC) | Close | High | Low | Volume (ETH) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 10:00 | 2,499.71 | 2,503.22 | 2,496.71 | 103,989 |
| 11:00 | 2,505.09 | 2,507.00 | 2,499.50 | 156,006 |
| 12:00 | 2,503.79 | 2,509.00 | 2,503.19 | 152,714 |
| 13:00 | 2,501.47 | 2,505.66 | 2,499.81 | 122,683 |
| 14:00 | 2,506.92 | 2,507.13 | 2,499.52 | 201,598 |
| 15:00 | 2,525.04 | 2,534.32 | 2,504.71 | 849,483 |
Five of the six hours were a tight 2,497–2,509 coil, never threatening the 2,518 ceiling. The 15:00 bar was the outlier by an order of magnitude — an 849k-contract expansion bar that broke the range and closed near its high at 2,525.
Delta / CVD (Binance, 60m)
| Hour (UTC) | Delta | CVD | CVD Change |
|---|---|---|---|
| 14:00 | +940.81 | -42,387 | — |
| 15:00 | +38,027.14 | -6,500 | +35,888 |
The breakout bar carried +38k delta — buyers were the aggressors through the ceiling, not passive bids being lifted. Day-scoped CVD swung from -42.4k to -6.5k in a single hour, the sharpest one-hour recovery of the session. That is initiative, and it is the first time in this sequence that delta has confirmed a push rather than printed negative against it.
Session tone
The tape has shifted from fade to follow-through. The twelve-hour candle was still churn, but the last hour converted it: price broke 2,518 on heavy volume, closed at 2,525, and delta confirmed the move. The burden now shifts to the sellers — if 2,525–2,534 holds on any retest, the breakout has a real chance to extend. Failure to hold 2,512 (the prior twelve-hour high) would mark this as yet another false break and return us to the familiar fade.
