Ether tags 2,518 again, then fades as sellers return

Ether's latest twelve-hour candle pushed to 2,518.49, a fresh high for the window, but closed back at 2,504.91 on roughly 70% more volume than the prior period — a churn rather than a breakout. The last six hours told the same story in miniature: a drift to 2,502, a bounce to 2,509, then a heavy 03:00 sell bar that printed negative delta and dragged price back to 2,506. Sellers are absorbing every push toward 2,518.

ETHUSDT Desk Read — the fade that keeps fading

Angle this run: the rejected retest. Last frame the coil snapped and tagged 2,517 on a heavy bar that printed negative delta — a breakout met with seller aggression. This frame that same ceiling was tested again and rejected again. The twelve-hour candle ran up to 2,518.49, its highest of the window, then gave it all back to close at 2,504.91. The tape is no longer compressing; it is churning. Volume is up, price is not, and delta is negative. That is the signature of distribution, not accumulation.

The current candle gained just +0.35% from open to close while running up to 2,518.49 and back — a 24-point round trip that netted almost nothing. Volume jumped to 2.39M ETH from 1.40M in the prior period, a 70% lift in turnover for a 9-point net close. That is churn: lots of trading, no progress.

The six-hour tape is a slow bleed with one failed lift. Price slipped from 2,508 to 2,502 through midnight, recovered to 2,509 by 02:00, then was sold off in the 03:00 bar back to 2,506. Two touches of 2,509–2,512 both stalled; the only decisive print of the window was the sell.

Delta / CVD

Bucket (UTC)Volume (ETH)DeltaCVD
02:005,499−738+678
03:0039,642−7,077−6,076

The orderflow confirms the fade. The 03:00 bar was the heaviest of the session at 39.6K ETH and printed −7,077 delta — aggressive selling, with sell-side flow absorbing the bid. CVD flipped from +678 to −6,076 across those two hours, a clean turn negative. Buyers had no follow-through; sellers owned the only real volume bar.

Session tone

Distribution, not breakout. The 2,518–2,520 zone has now been tested twice in two consecutive frames and rejected both times, each on seller-driven volume. The market is spending more energy defending that ceiling than it is attacking it. Below, 2,500–2,502 is the near-term shelf — price has held it twice in the last six hours — but the delta profile says the next meaningful test is more likely to come from the downside.

Key levels, read from the tape rather than a static grid:

LevelPriceRead
Ceiling (twice rejected)2,518–2,520Heavy seller absorption
Mid resistance2,509–2,512Failed twice last six hours
Near-term shelf2,500–2,502Held twice, thinning
Session low2,472.81Prior 12h low, the deeper magnet

The bid is defending 2,500 for now, but every push higher is being sold. Until delta turns positive on a push through 2,512, the path of least resistance is a retest of 2,500 and, on failure, a drift toward the 2,472 low.
