Ether rejects 2,520, fading back toward 2,490

Ether's twelve-hour candle closed at 2,505, up about 1.2% from the 2,474 open, after tagging a 2,519.6 high on lighter turnover than the prior window. The last six hours tell a different story: an early push to 2,520 was sold, and price has drifted back to 2,489 with buyers still absorbing the fade. Positive delta over the final hours suggests the pullback is being bought rather than liquidated.

ETHUSDT Desk Read — the failed push

Angle this run: the rejection. Last frame the tape was a quiet reclaim off the flush lows — a slow re-accumulation retaking the value area. This frame the market tried to extend that recovery, tagged 2,520, and got turned back. The bid that carried the prior climb is still present, but it is no longer translating into higher highs. That is the difference between a trend and a fading bounce, and the orderflow shows which one this is.

Oct 9 00:002,474.022,505.012,519.602,469.165.11M

The current twelve-hour candle closed green — a +1.25% move off the 2,474 open — but it did so on roughly a third less volume than the flush window. That is the first tell: the recovery has less participation behind it than the breakdown that preceded it. A higher low (2,469 vs 2,405) is constructive, but the tape is climbing on thinner air.

15:002,489.292,493.342,483.60241K

The six-hour arc is a textbook failed push. The 11:00 bar printed the session high at 2,519.6 on the heaviest hour of the window (849K ETH), then price spent the next four hours leaking back to 2,489. The 13:00 bar was the heaviest sell-side hour of the frame (987K) and it drove price to the 2,472.81 low — the rejection, not the rally, is where the volume concentrated.

Delta / CVD (60m, final bars)

Hour (UTC)DeltaDelta MinDelta MaxCVD
14:00+1,361-89+1,99735,670
15:00+1,052-3,542+1,35836,504

Here is the nuance. Cumulative delta is still climbing (35,670 → 36,504) and both final bars print positive delta, meaning buy aggressors are still out-bidding sellers even as price fades. That is absorption: passive sellers are capping the rally at 2,520 while aggressive buyers keep lifting the dips. The 15:00 bar's delta_min of -3,542 shows a sharp sell burst that was fully absorbed back to positive by the close — a floor, not a cliff.

Session tone

The market is in a compression between two regimes. Above, 2,520 is acting as a hard cap — two touches, both sold. Below, 2,470–2,480 is being defended by persistent bid-side absorption. The twelve-hour candle is green and the higher low holds, but the last six hours show initiative shifting from buyers to passive sellers. Net read: the recovery is intact but stalling, and the next decisive move likely resolves off a break of 2,520 (continuation) or a loss of 2,470 (the flush resumes). Until then it is a grind between the two.
