Ether grinds lower into 2,560 as the cascade cools

Ether's twelve-hour candle closed at 2,577, down from 2,696 on nearly 9.5 million ETH of turnover as the heavy selling from the prior session kept pressing. The last six hours were quieter, a slow bleed from 2,595 to a 2,560 low before price settled near 2,565. Cumulative delta is still pinned deep in the red near -342k, so the tape remains offered even as the pace of the drop fades.

ETHUSDT Desk Read — the quiet grind

Angle this run: the post-cascade bleed. Last frame the floor gave way in a violent two-hour cascade. That impulse is done — but the tape has not bounced. Instead it is doing the more dangerous thing: grinding lower on fading volume, refusing to reclaim even the shallow levels it lost. A market that cannot bounce after a flush is a market still looking for a bid, and the deeply red cumulative delta says the bid has not returned.

07 Oct 00:002,696.452,577.002,698.632,560.039.49M

The current 12h bar opened exactly where the prior one closed and spent the entire window selling off — -119 points, roughly -4.4%, on turnover more than four times the prior candle. High was set in the first moments (2,698.63); everything after was distribution.

15:002,562.592,565.052,556.990.52M

The six-hour window is a slow-motion leg down: 2,595 → 2,565, about 30 points, but it never once printed a higher high. The 13:00 hour was the busiest (1.98M ETH) and it made the session low at 2,550.98 before a weak snap back. Since then volume has tailed off sharply — 0.52M ETH in the latest hour — yet price is still sitting within 10 points of the lows.

Volume / delta / CVD

MetricValueRead
Session CVD-341,872Still deep red; no real bid recovery
Last hour delta+12,668Modest buy aggressor, tiny volume
Prior hour delta-1,622Neutral-lean-sell

Cumulative delta is pinned around -342k, essentially unchanged from the flush — the sellers that dominated the cascade have not been offset by any meaningful initiative buying. The latest hour's +12.7k delta is a faint green flicker on 0.52M ETH of volume, not a turn. This is absorption at best, not accumulation.

Session tone

The tape is offered but exhausted. Two things stand out:

  • No bounce after the flush. A -4.4% twelve-hour candle that cannot reclaim even 2,580 within six hours is a weak tape, full stop.
  • Shrinking volume into the lows. The cascade needed 9.5M ETH; the last two hours printed under 0.75M combined. Sellers are not chasing down here — they are just not met by any bid.

That combination — fading volume with price refusing to lift — is the signature of a market still searching for its floor rather than one that has found it. 2,550 is the immediate line in the sand; a reclaim of 2,580–2,600 is what would be needed to argue the flush is genuinely over. Until then the path of least resistance stays lower, even if the pace is now a grind instead of a waterfall.
